It's [was] da weekend, where da wee...

I finally worked out at the gym at our apartment complex this Saturday afternoon. I slept in a little too long while Joshua was out working his *second* job mowing the huge lot out at King's. I felt guilty for sleeping in, so I thought it would be very appropriate for me to start my long-awaited workout regime right then. I spent an hour there. Would've stayed for longer, but the ventilation in that joint was awful. There was AC, but it was just dead air. I would have appreciated a floor fan, at least. So, I used the quads + hamstrings machine a bunch of times. My main goals is to tone out my legs again--no more wishing they were how they were back in my high school soccer days. Did some cardio time on the treadmill + step machines. I felt pretty accomplished. Feeling the next-day burn makes me feel good. It lets me know that I'm getting something out of it.

I have been watching the first season of Smallville some nights last week since we have not installed cable at our new home. It's kind of like our 'tv' for the moment, haha. This is the most J has ever watched of the series. He's not sure how much he likes of it, haha. I tell him that it's a combination of 90210 [due to the high school cast + its drama] + The X-files. I don't think he cares much for the X-files part of the show. Ah well, he watches it anyway. ^_^ I think it's funny to re-watch the beginning episodes of the show + how *innocent* the original cast's characters once were.

J took me out to see Sin City this weekend. I really wanted to see it based on my fellow artist coworkers' recommendations. I actually saw one of my coworkers in the row in front of me! Haha. I actually liked it, though it was a bit on the gory side. J seemed to do fine with it though. I guess I've seen worse, but it's been awhile. The cinematography was excellent. I loved the use of high-contrast black + white with splashes of colour on certain objects. I've never read Frank Miller's comics, but it didn't hinder my enjoyment of the film or story. It wasn't a prerequisite, let's just put it that way. This made me get even more excited to see the flic [thanks to coffeegirl for the link].
