first real week
How awesome this week at work has been. Have you ever heard me say that before? Yes, I am happy. Work has been so busy yet fulfilling, the people are genuinely friendly [like my job at idea where everybody gathers for lunch], + the view from the office windows are beautiful.
Today, the weather was nice. So, me + some coworkers took a stroll + ate lunch outside next to the Potomac River. It was almost like a brick amphitheater of sorts with a fountain + nice shade directly facing the water. It was fun being able to talk with them + getting to know them more. That's something I do not take that for granted anymore. Something new + exciting...
I love this city + its surrounding avenues. So much to do. The other night, I got my first paycheck + I needed to deposit it since my direct deposit was not in effect yet. So, I got home + asked Joshua if he'd like to take an evening walk 3 miles to the local ATM. Now, if I were in Jacksonville I would not have thought twice about walking 3 miles at night due to the humidity, laziness, + the fact that it isn't commonplace for people to walk around town unless you don't own a car/bike. It was a nice, brisk walk. And I'm getting more used to walking long distances--I can tell because I'm not trying hard to catch my breath or getting sore. You should have seen me when we came up on the 4th of July weekend to look for apartments. I was so out of shape, it was embarrassing. But, how awesome that we can just walk to the grocery store, restaurants, banks, the post office, + even the police department. I can get used to this. ^_^
Well, the 3-day weekend is upon us. Actually, it is here already as long as I get my arse out of here like I should have half an hour ago. Any plans for you all this weekend? The hubby + I are going to make our first trip to IKEA land to pick up a 5-piece dining table, a dish drainer [since we have no dishwasher to drain the dishes in], + possibly an area rug. I'll have my own personal walking budget calculator [i.e. J] so he's going to have to hold me back from stepping past that line. ;)
I am + will keep sending many prayers to dear God for those who were in Katrina's path. I feel for them + will be thinking about the people of New Orleans + Mississippi.
