PRINT, please.

So, I dropped off my submission for PRINT's Regional Annual Design competition for the year 2k5 this morning at the post office. I submitted my wedding invite design package as my entry for the category "Invitations/Announcements", so hopefully something good will come out of it.

The package includes:
  • invitation
  • RSVP postcard
  • square envelope addressed in calligraphy
  • directions & accommodations info sheet
  • wedding program
I received a lot of good responses from a number of people who received the wedding invitation, so I'm praying that it will successfully make it to where it can be seen by even more people [i.e. PRINT's Regional Annual Design issue]! ^_^

Thanks to all who have inspired + encouraged me to work hard at my design. We will await patiently + see what happens.

P.S. 5 days !!!!!

At the workplace on a Friday?!

Hello all. I am now going home from the workplace. Just printed off a bunch of things for the wedding. Programs. Seat cards. Thank you cards. Order of ceremony processional. Order of reception introduction. Wedding day itinerary. A BUNCH o' things. Thank you workplace for all the facilities a designer would need! Still need to print the table name cards as the seating chart is not yet finalized. Gotta do that after our co-ed bridal shower this Sunday. Oh man, oh man. The dizzays are counting dizzown! Tomorrow it will be 7, yo!

Have a good weekend without the izzays. ^_^

In the meantime, here is yet another photo of my cute niece playing in our tree [thanks to her Lolo!]...

Overheard conversations at the workplace.

NOTE : Coworker 1 = Obnoxious + loud

Coworker 1 : The eagle fell out of the sky today.
Coworker 2 : What?
Coworker 1 : I said the eagle fell out of the sky today.
Coworker 2 : Huh??
Coworker 1 : It's PAYDAY!
Coworker 2 : Well, why didn't you just say, 'It's Payday'??

Yeh, we're related.

My brother, sis-in-law, + baby niece were in town this weekend for my bridal shower thrown by my bridesmaids. [THANK YOU, GIRLS!! It was awesome!] It was good to see them + spend time with them--especially hanging out with the little one. She's a trip...

I had my digital camera turned to where she can see the view screen when I shot this photo. Then, I made that face + she copied me by seeing it on the camera, haha. Her parents taught her that face. I guess they taught us, too!

Oddservation 2

Remarkable! Yet another strange species of roadkill spotted one morning before zipping off to work. Poor thing was smushed to death.

[taken with my pa1mOne, surprisingly so]

So, what do you make of it? If I collect enough photos of these rare sightings I might make a book about them... hmm.

Not the Care-bear stare you remember...

"And what?"
25 Dec 2k4

Last night while I was driving home from work, I decided to fill up the gas tank of my trusty automobile. I stopped at the Gate station located on my usual route when I noticed an animal in the distance walking in a funny way. It was a stray cat, or a cat abandoned by a neglectful owner -or- a kitten of a cat whose owner did not spay or neuter their pet. It was limping on one of its hind legs, + then bowed its head towards some trash on the road to see if it was someting edible. It was such a sad sight to see. It made me really feel for this animal.

Cats are normally very swift + graceful in motion, but not this one. I mean, I'm not much of a cat person, but I generally do not like to see animals in harm, especially those affected by the traffic [i.e. wild or domestic animals wounded or killed by cars]. It's not enough that it was freezing cold outside, but the cat was starving + hobbling along on 3 legs with no shelter or care. If I had something to give it to eat just to nourish it for the next few hours that would have been good. I was in no way going to call the humane shelter to come pick it up because A) they most likely would not spend their money + resources to fix the cat's hurt leg + B) they would only keep the cat for a number of days before they put it to sleep, unless someone adopts it. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe it was better off on the streets? Who knows. I just wish I had some food to give to the cat.

Things like that make me sad. I know that you can help stray animals + try to keep them off the streets by supporting the Humane Society's efforts by donating money to it, but what can you really do for that particular cat limping along right in front of you?

Happy Shower!

I received a card in the mail from my Auntie last night. It was a card wishing me a good bridal shower or something to that extent. I thought it was really sweet. My mom's sisters [my aunties] have always been really good about sending me + my siblings these nice cards for every occasion while we were growing up. But, what struck me was the fact that someone out there actually designed a card specifically for a bridal shower. I never knew they even existed! I'm telling you, my Auntie can find a card for every occasion. It's her super power gift. :)

Oddservation

Two weekends ago in the parking lot of a Target store, we walked by an odd looking type of roadkill. Luckily, I had my camera on hand to document this strange species!

Fascinating!

>;)

Oh yeh?

I wonder how much of this is true? Only my friends would know--you know, the ones from high school. ;)

Well folks [even though many don't really know about this yet], it is now time to announce the leading contender. All the votes have been tabulated + accounted for as of last night. During a tight race between Movable Type + Blogger, the winner to be my web log for the next 4 years [or so for now] is... *drumroll* ...Blogger! Congratulations to the winning candidate! Your task is to make sure that I am journally-sound [you like that word, ah?] to mark the events + thoughts of my life for as long as possible until it stops posting my posts like some other prehistoric fossil of an online blog that will go unnamed for now. For those that do not know, I unfortunately lost all posting opportunities of commemorating the new year in January + even part of December because of a neglectful admin. Those December posts that you see below are actually copied + pasted from my ex-blog since they were officially posted, but never showed up on the page. :P So, like a hermit crab too big for its shell, I had to evacuate + find a new place to cozy up in. This might as well be it!

And just so you know, I wanted Movable Type to win. MT just requires more of my time in order to get it up + running + I don't really have that kind of time right now to sit down + pick at it. Trust me, that's what I was doing last night. Code, code, code. Perl CGI is a new world that I have little to no knowledge of. I was so persistent in trying to figure it out... then a headache was on the rise + I had to put it to rest. For those with some knowledge of MT, I was able to upload it to my server + managed to get the login page to work. It just would not generate any index pages for my blog after I rebuilt it. So, until I figure that all out, I will patiently sit here with Blogger instead. Maybe when my time is a bit more freed up will I then pick up where I last left off with MT, since there are so many possibilities with the app. Blogger will do just fine. At least I can store it on my server just like MT... such an upgrade from the last blog [which I've had since 2000]!

In other news, SuperBowl feva is abound us. I think *I'm* even getting semi-excited. I drive through downtown twice on a daily basis, during the day + then later at night + would always see things change around the city. Bright lights + fanfare. Dozens of private jets are parked right outside of my office window [that's right, I have an office window!] near the hangar across my work building delivering VIPs, rich folk, + possibly the NFL players themselves into our little big town of IHOPS + Hooters. Props to Dalton for doing an awesome job with designing the SuperBowl account! It is kind of exciting to see our town get all gussied up for the sports shenanigans. They even allowed us to wear jeans to work today in honour of this weekend's events. Aren't we so lucky? ^_^

Headache approaching!

Still at work trying to figure out movable type. Yes, I know I am on blogger at the moment, but you know persistence pays even though sometimes I end up paying for persistence.

I need a good night's rest!

Hello there.

It is my first day.

I would like to cozy up in this place
see how it fits
see how I meld with it
see how I adapt in it.

I think I already like it.
