Saturday stories
Last Saturday was a Girls Only day for me, Avonn, Gine, my sis, + Gen. Had some of them visit my apartment for the first time. We hung out for a bit, then went to PF Chang's at the new mall + ate a big yummy lunch, taking photos with + fun convos all around the booth. Thanks to Av for making reservations to avoid the 2-hour wait! Then, we drove over to the theaters to watch BEWITCHED, which was cute, but ugggh--don't want to admit it, but Gail was RIGHT. I had such an awesome time with my girls [minus Adaliz, of course], which unfortunately is such a rare occasion these days. Where mah girls at?
This Saturday. Woke up at 10:30 this morning. Ate a mixed berry Yoplait yogurt on the way to the post office. We got there 5 minutes till closing to overnight our future apartment applications. Joshua was supposed to clean up a yard he mowed for someone the other day, but we drove by it + saw it had already been done. We headed to the beach with nothing but two towels, a white sheet, a bottle of water, + a cell phone. I didn't even have my purse with me. Felt strange without it, but soon got over it. Found parking easily thanks to a helpful tip from a jock-type looking dude with a bucket + a fishing pole.
We got to the beach by about 1:30pm. It was nice to lay out in the sun for a few minutes, but the sun got too hot for us [even with sunscreen on]. The sand was even too hot for bare feet. So, we headed to the water + chatted as we jumped waves + got saltwater up our noses for the next 3 hours. So nice to be out there again. 2003 was our beach summer with me learning how to bodyboard--probably the most I've ever been to the beach in a span of 3 months since I've lived here. 2004 was the wedding planning year causing us to neglect any beach time [or TIME for that matter]. And today was our first chance that we've been able to go to the beach in awhile. :) Both sand + water were crowded with so much beach folk. So crowded, we had to keep wading over a few yards just to leave some space between us + other people wading too near. I like my personal space, you know. With all the rain being dumped on us for the past few weeks, I'm sure there were so many people pent up for the sun to shine to get out of their houses on a Saturday.
Then, hunger set in + we decided to spoil ourselves by eating at yummy Moe's, which has been ages since we've last eaten there, too. One Billy Barou, a Fat Sam, + one drink, please. Much to our delight, Joshua knew the manager from his barista days. Two for the price of one? Scorrrrre. Favours for favours worked in our favour this time. Take that, stingy spikey-haired Moe's cashier! Nyeh.
Time was closing in for our 6:40 pm movie 'meeting' of BATMAN BEGINS, so we went home, showered up, + drove to the theaters. It was supposed to be a big group of friends meeting up for the movie, but things happen. Ended up being just me, J, Gine, + Terence, which was cool because we got to talk for almost an hour after the movie let out. The movie was pretty good; awesome casting. Everytime a new face popped up, I would utter an, "Ooh!" This movie would help those Kevin Bacon gamers a ton. My observation: I found it funny how Gary Oldman [aka mist-morphing Draculllllla] was playing a good guy while Liam Neeson [aka awesome Jedi Knight] was playing a bad guy. I felt as if I was the audience member who laughed too much during certain parts of the movie. There were some people laughing the same time I was, so I knew I wasn't the only one who thought some of the dialogue was humourous. I just think we had a bum crowd tonight, which sucked + sort of affected my viewing experiece. Sucked in the same way an over-rowdy [or much rather a less enthusiastic I'm-too-emocool-to-show-this-band-rocks-me] crowd at a show would suck.
Hmm, just noticed the time. Hope I can wake up in time for first service.
Goodnight.
P.S. This is hilarious. I don't endorse violence, but vegetables are supposed to be good for you. ;)
