Day 2

I am into my second day of my new job. We use Macs here, so I am getting used to OS X, Dashboard, iChat, iMusic, InDesign, + Safari--all the new apps + options that I have missed out for the last 3 years. It is very nice + clean. I am liking it, but I do miss my PC mouse scroll wheel.

I must get back to work, so for now here is what I sent out in an email to my friends + family describing my first day at the new job:

My first day has been interesting + a little confusing, but fun nonetheless. ^_^ First days usually are. It will be more interesting as I begin to get more acquainted with the processes here. I was introduced to the rest of the team here + was given an office tour. It is basically in the shape of an 'A'. The area where our office park is located is nice + safe. Parking is a bit sparse as I've been told that the parking garages are full, which means I would either have to get here early to get a parking space or rely on the metro + bus lines.

I am privileged to get my own room with a door that we are allowed to close [no cube farm here!] + we get to play our music loud--it is actually encouraged so that we could drown out the noise from our neighbours. I do not have a window, but I am located straight across from the hallway of another coworker's room window, so I can see the outside from my chair. I am relieved that we get to wear jeans here, too, since it was not permitted at my last job. [Of course, we would have to dress more properly if meeting with a client.] It seems like a great place to work, so I can't wait to get more used to my environment. I still have to 'dress up' my space, then I will have to send some photos to show you all. And the best of all, I will get my own official business cards! [My first company card yet, haha.]
