Me + my classmate used to draw this little character over + over again back in 8th grade.

We had so many different variations between the two of us, but this is the version I remember the most. It was inspired by Kiedis' doodles sprinkled all over the liner notes of Red Hot Chili Peppers' Blood Sugar Sex Magik album. And yes, it was the cassette that we were looking at.

Harmony makes it so easy to contribute to that create-something-everyday idea going around. Wish there was an undo option though.

I need a drawing tablet to better execute my sketches. Imagine how fun it would be to sketch with Harmony... on the iPad... on the metro. Then again, I can just bring a regular sketch pad + ink pen with me. Ha.

{ 2010 A YEAR OF SHARING }

A probono promotional collaboration project between Grafik [role: design], McArdle Solutions [role: professional printing], + myself [role: photography]. Grafik, my old company, had approached me last Fall to see if I was interested in sharing my photography work for next year's promo calendar. Of course, I agreed as I've always looked forward to Grafik's yearly calendar—except this time, I was the featured photographer. Exciting stuff.

They gave me a list of images that they were interested in, I supplied the hi-res files, + McArdle chose the final selects. Grafik's design concept behind the calendar was to somehow make a printed piece "interactive" by including some of my photo narratives that I've originally posted on flickr as well as some users' comments on the back of each month's photo. I thought it added a nice personal touch + back-story behind each photograph.

These photos are near + dear to me, so this was a fun personal project to be involved in. Not to mention, I received plenty copies of the calendar to distribute to whoever I please. :)

This is my mouse path activity for today starting at 1:30pm until around 6:30pm.

The lines represent movement + the dots are resting periods—the bigger the dot, the longer the rest.

My Photoshop / Illustrator workspace palettes are located on the right of my screen, while my design documents are to the left. That huge dot is from my 5pm team status meeting + there are medium dots representing restroom / coffee breaks here + there. Lunch was devoured at my desk yet again.

I think I need to print this out + have it framed...

Sticky Rice sushi + spirits on Chaz's last night in DC.

It was our first time to finally try their sushi.

[sidetrack] The first time we tried to have dinner there months before, they told us it would be a 30-45 minute wait. So, we said "no thank you," they apologized + said "sorry", + handed us a take-away menu with a handful of decals of their cute red + white logo. We then parted ways in search of dinner elsewhere. That did leave a great impression on me. No evidence of snobbery from that experience. [/sidetrack]

I have to say the sushi was pretty good tonight, though Kotobuki is still our fave sushi joint in DC hands down. I mean, Sticky Rice is a sushi place that sells a bucket of tater tots. Yes, tater tots!

Keep in mind that they are two completely different atmospheres. If you want a more traditional sushi restaurant setting complete with visible sushi chefs behind a counter ready to greet you with food that never fails to impress + a sound system that plays back-to-back Beatles hits, then vote Kotobuki. If you want more of a bar setting with awesome thumping, bass-bumping, karaoke-singing, hipster-partying type of atmosphere, then vote for Sticky Rice. It'll definitely have you leaving with a good time [not to mention, a great place to cap off Chaz's first visit to DC].

Guess it all depends on your mood + the type of people in your company. :)

How we spent New Year's Day.

I was so ecstatic to finally see the printed bus ad that DC Prep Director of Resource Development Ibby Jeppson told me about more than a year ago. She is a client of the old workplace who had asked me if they could use this photo that I took on DC Prep's First Day of School. I had seen it on the back of a bus, but didn't have a camera on me to capture it, so I was so excited to finally see it up close again. :)

Today, I was asked to write on a letter-sized piece of paper with a black sharpie my answer to the question,

"What inspires you?"

The person [the director of innovation marketing] asking this question is going to compile everyone's answers paired with each individual's portrait to create an in-house book, which will then be given out to each person in our department as a gift for the new year. I thought it was a nice, thoughtful gesture + loved the idea of being a part of it.

We were told not to think too hard on our responses as they want it to be spontaneous + real. So, I just wrote the first thing that came to my mind. I didn't have much time to reword it, so it's not my best writing, but it works. And so it goes...

My past mistakes are my greatest inspiration. Each time I'm reminded of them it drives me to do even better than before. There is nothing more inspiring than knowing you have a second chance at something.

This was my first time visiting the MoMA. :)

You had to be a member of the museum to enter Tim Burton's exhibit that night. I was so bummed! :(

We had to be out of the house for 2 days while the floors were being applied with a semigloss polyurethane finish, so we took advantage of the weekend away + made a quick trip out to NYC.

Posted especially for my sis + bro. I got you guys each a poster from the exhibit. :)
