Finally... *GOSH*

current DC wetha

The weather is beginning to look + *feel* a lot like Spring. Freakin-a, did it take its sweet time though. I mean, I love snow + all, but not in April when I want to enjoy the cherry blossom trees. Dag, I mean dag.

In other news...
I will be making a trip to *dun* *dun* *duh* THE PHILIPPINES! Wow, huh? It takes a whole day just to fly there—with connecting flights, of course. Yeh, that's next week for a whole week. It's not a vacation, mind you, so don't get too excited. This is all for my dear Lolo as well as my beloved Lola.

This trip is a big deal. It's been *17 years* since I've been back to "the homeland". I imagine it's going to be a very emotional week coming up, physically [major jet lag + time difference] + mentally. I am actually really nervous about it, for a whole bunch of mixed reasons. But, I'm sure everything will turn out fine. Just need to prepare myself...

* light, airy, fluffy goodness

.:* IT'S SNOWING! *:. Hoorah! Hoorah! I was driving out of the parking garage late tonight on the way home from work when I witnessed the light dusting of the first snowflakes settling on the roads. The only type of snowfall that I've witnessed since I moved was the heavy + hyperactive type that would peg you in the eye if you weren't careful. But, tonight, it was just so peaceful + quiet--the kind of snowfall that you would see in any of those Harry Potter movies [except subtract x-amount of feet of snow]. It was so nice that I went back outside to take a walk in it while making bootprints up + down the sidewalk [that's right, you heard me. *bootprints*, as in cowboy boots, son].

J is borrowing my camera, so the whole time I had to say to myself, "Just enjoy it. Don't worry about not having your camera to document the tiny snowflakes. With the snow falling until 5AM + the weather staying in the low 20s, the snow should still be there by morning; THEN you could borrow the company camera + shoot some snowflakes tomorrow." See the nutty things I think of? There were very few people out walking, so it was really nice to look behind me + see that my prints were the only ones on the sidewalk. Mazzy will have a fluffy, white comforter the next time I go out there, which is only after a few hours from now.

Must. Sleep.

brrr... again.

Um, yeh. The highs today are/were in the low 30s...
You'd think we'd at least get some fluffy snow out of this?

As of 7:45 AM this morning...

help

Please send as many good thoughts / prayers / positive energy or whatever it is you prefer in the direction of Florida right now. I have some loved ones going through some really rough times + I need everyone's help to push through this unfortunate [+ hopefully temporary] roadblock...

:'(((

P.S.
The first snowfall fell on the DC metro area last Sunday. Actually, the remnants of melted snow are still apparent in certain places of the city as of today [Wed]. It wasn't very thick snowfall, but I'll take what I can get. J + I were literally jumping up + down like little school children when we saw little flurries outside our window. We did anything but stay in that day. But, as with all other "severe" weather conditions in the area, people were paranoid + impatient on the road. So, it was the metro bus + trains for us. No snow angels this time — just lots of shoe prints.
